Our story began on 1 February 1991, when founders Denis Jaggar and Paul Webber purchased the Silverdale business of Gibson Wood Products. A few months later we shifted to Bowden Road in Mt Wellington. In 2011, we shifted to new premises in Highbrook, and in December 2018 we shifted across the road to new larger purpose-built premises.

We have grown from a team of 3 to 25, and have many long-term staff members who have been with us for 10+ and 20+ years. In June 2019, Plytech was sold (enabling Paul and Denis to retire) to an Australian public company called Big River Industries Ltd. This company has been in business for over a 100 years, manufacturing and distributing plywood and other products now with 12 distribution branches throughout Australia.

At Plytech we import specialist plywood based products from all over the world for distribution throughout New Zealand. We specialise in offering the very latest products available from Europe (we think the boss just likes to travel!), as well as the largest and greatest range of plywood panels in New Zealand.

We can offer products ranging from Marine hardwoods and construction ply, to beautiful architectural panels - which can be natural, pre-finished or overlaid with decorative and hard-wearing surfaces. We supply panels specifically designed for architectural and joinery applications, plus construction and cladding, transport decking, recreational vehicle, marine, benchtop uses – in fact, any application that needs a well-made plywood panel!

We have a strong sustainable ethos, and are proud to offer most of our products with a sustainable renewable resource certification, such as FSC or PEFC.

We also highly value our customers (because they’re all awesome!), and work hard to give the very best service possible - understanding their needs, and ensuring they get the right product for the job every time, with a smile! And with our innovative and exciting range of products, we love being able to give them the ability to be innovative and creative as well.
